Game designer
After a Master degree in Computer Science Engineering, I worked for 2 years at a consulting company as Project Manager and Webapp Producer.
Having donned the roles of programmer, producer and game designer has given me a decent understanding of what a video game is and how to make it. To complement this broader view, I have some experience as concept artist and can sketch characters, places, scenes and moods.
Due to my engineering background, I spend a lot of time crafting and polishing game systems, in which I like to implement original game ideas. I am also very intent on good game balancing, as I feel the fairness of a game is one of the most critical factor in player’s appreciation of the game.
One of the most important aspects of Game Design to me is trying to blend gameplay with narration. The video game experience is many times more memorable and exhilarating when the player feels their actions have an impact on the story, and conversely when the story justifies how the game works and which options are available to the player.
When I am not making games, I like to dabble in other fields…Even if they ultimately do help me come up with funny ideas for new games down the line.
A lot of my time is spent reading about world history. I love learning how the complex intrication of past events eventually led to the current state of the world we live in.
It is roughly for the same reason I am into philosophy. I think understanding the many different ways one can look at the same life helps becoming more open-minded.
Lastly, I sometimes translate comics from Japanese to English…First, to give a broader audience access to a foreign culture…But mainly to keep my Japanese in shape !
If you any question regarding how to play my games, please feel free to send me an email or to send me an email.
